Goal: Add more power, be reliable and VERY quiet.

This is a 1st...... We actually had a budget, didn't have to drive the car to work the next day and had month to complete it!!!!!!!!! Bryan and I have never worked in such conditions.

 

Vehicle: 2003 Nissan Frontier with KA24DE (same as 240sx) with automatic transmission (almost a complete base model)

 

Parts:

Forced Performance 20G

38mm Tial wastegate

2in intercooler piping

Psi Man exhaust manifold ;)

3in exhaust

2- 24in glass packs

1- oval glass pack

1.5" shorty bike muffler on the external dump

Greddy EGT gauge

Custom windshield washer fluid bottle

Starion/Conquest FMIC

stainless braided oil and vacuum lines

 

Results:

This is a fun little truck.... It sure gets up and goes. 3rd  day of tuning it, it pulled 14.8 sec at 93 mph with a 1.9 60ft time in the 1/4 mile

It sure does surprise the hell out of people.

 

Well we had it dyno'ed the first pull was disappointing 171 hp and 180 tq after a hour of tuning it produced 237.9 hp and 210.4 at 8psi of boost.  Factory advertised power was 143 hp and 154 tq. We are hoping to take it to the track again.

mmmmmmmm..... brand new Forced Performance 20g and my pretty new stainless manifold.

 

My newest manifold..... Its 1 1/2 (pipe) 316L stainless weld els and mild steel flange, Tig welded and back purged (until I ran out of gas) Its sandblasted in the pic.

 

Couldn't find the right size stainless tubing for the wastegate... So I used a nut and machine the threads off.. hahhahaha

 

 
 its wee little battery that actually has double cold cranking amps than stock. Its not a good idea to leave the stereo on with the engine off as we quickly learned though.

 

Here's one of Bryans good idea...... The stock windshield wiper fluid bottle was in the way of the intercooler piping. He just happened to have a cheap catch can that the pump plugged in to... We couldn't have done it better

 

The intercooler is from starion/conquest. The blow off valve was later changed to a fake HKS SSQ after we had a problem with the DSM staying open

 

 

 

 After the miata and 240sx, I thought we learned turbos don't quiet the engine much .... But we didn't.... Yet another loud as import (for a couple of days at least)
